Weekend

Well I know it is already Tuesday afternoon, but I was really busy yesterday so I didn't have a chance to post anything. We finally have wonderful weather! It has been steadily getting warmer since Saturday- and I love it! Today it is the upper 70's and tomorrow/Thursday- the 80's! I LOVE this time of the year- when the warmth is a welcome change (as opposed to September when something cooler sounds nice). I have been trying to enjoy it as much as possible. I don't know if Pookie is happy about the good weather or not. On the one hand she gets to go outside more often, but on the other hand, most of her walks are death march long (for her) and she usually can't wait to get back home. Anyway, I am going to enjoy it while I can.

So let's see this weekend. Well, it went too quickly, but that's the standard. Saturday Dave and I joined the Woodbury's at the Miller Motorsports Track out in Tooele. The Woodbury's are racing (motorcycles) again and we were there to support them (Dave helps as "pit crew" and I bring the snacks). And the best part? It was a beautiful day- and just the right temperature.

Saturday night was a small family get together at Dave's sister's house. It was fun to hang out with everyone. Nothing really exciting there, but it was good to see everyone and chat. :) It's also probably a sign of things to come- family getting together more often during the summer.

Sunday was a quiet day. We took Pookie out to the park across the street and played fetch for a little bit. It seemed like everyone else in the neighborhood had the same idea as well. For a park that doesn't allow pets, there sure were a lot of dogs. :)

Good Bye Motorcycle (we hardly owned you)...

Well Dave took a big step yesterday... he sold his baby- his motorcycle (Ol' Red Pipe). I feel really bad about, but Dave did a good job getting it sold (it was his graduation present- and here we are selling it a year later).

Soccer is back!

Well Soccer season has started again. Dave's first (practice) outdoor game was on Monday- and it was a beautiful day for soccer! The sun was shining and it was in the 60's. Pookie and I watched for half of the game. Within the first few minutes, Dave scored the first goal of the game! Whoo hoo! :)

Belly

Well my little belly is starting to grow larger. People are actually noticing it now. :) I wanted to share what I looked like about a little over halfway through (I'm now 23 weeks along- 20 weeks is the halfway mark). Anyway, out of respect to Dave's wishes I'm only posting pictures of belly covered by shirt. The front views don't really show much belly so you guys only get the side view. :) Everyone says that I am still tiny. I am okay with that- it feels big to me. :)

Anyway, things are going great out here. We are finally getting a taste of spring. At least for today. This weekend we are getting a storm- thunder (I'm excited) and lightning tomorrow and some rain followed by some snow on Sunday. Boo. But at least it has been beautiful all week. Makes me want to skip the afternoon of work and play in the park. Ahhh... that sounds like such a wonderful idea- lay out in the sunlight with a good book and some food- that's my idea of a good afternoon. :)

We are leaning closer and closer to a name. We've decided on Ethan- for now. Once we meet him we'll know for sure. :)

Anyway, that pretty much wraps up life out here. Oh wait... we bought a new stove and a new bed (yeah spending money we don't have/shouldn't be spending). Unfortunately the oven was dead- or rather, on its deathbed. And Dave was spending as much time sleeping on the floor as he was on the bed, so it was time for a change. I'm happy with both of the new additions. Between that stuff and the baby's room, our little home is coming together.

Bragging Rights (once again)

Ladies, I'm sorry to break it to you (again), but I really have snagged the best man. Dave surprised me this morning with a bouquet of roses. I had no clue that he was even planning anything. Dave really is the most sweetest and wonderful husband and I am so blessed to have him in my life.

Okay, I hope I've made all you ladies out there jealous. :)

So Vegas was a success. :) It was good to get out of town and enjoy ourselves for the weekend. We did a lot of walking and I did a lot of eating. :) We didn't take nearly as many pictures as I would have liked, but oh well.

Let's see... the drive down was pretty uneventful. We had good/clear weather on the way down- lots of sun. It was fun to see the temperatures rise the further south we went. :) We left 30 degree weather and arrived in 70 degree weather. The other fun part of the drive down was watching all the cars that went speeding by us get pulled over. :)

We stayed in the Venetian- we had a nice, big room and we could actually see the Mirage's Volcano from our window. We saw the tail end of one of the eruptions. Saturday was pretty quiet for us... we walked over to the Planet Hollywood Casino and got dinner at the buffet there (it was recommended to us by one of Dave's friends). There were so many people on the streets that it was hard to walk anywhere quickly. The casinos themselves were also pretty packed. Dave and I opted for a quiet night in our room to relax. We did catch the Bellagio Fountain show- that was just amazing! I wish I had taken pictures, but I don't think it would have come out very well.... The guy next to us proposed to his girlfriend and she accepted, so that was kind of cool. :)

Sunday we walked the entire length of the strip and got breakfast at the Luxor. This gave us a good chance to really see the casinos in the day light (Vegas looks so different during the day versus night!). It was nice because there weren't nearly as many people on the sidewalks so it made it easier to walk and see everything. We headed back to the Venetian and started gambling. :) Dave and I played the slots the most but we really had fun with the video poker. The table minimums were a bit expensive, so we stuck to the machines. :) Dave is quite the poker player and won a fantastic amount of money in a very short amount of time. Good for him! We then walked back down the strip to play at the New York (just for something different) and finished with dinner at the Bellagio Buffet (I was just loving that!). We then finished our night back at the Venetian. On our way up to the room Dave convinced me to stop and play a few rounds of Roulette and I ended up winning about $50! Whoo hoo!

Sunday Dave and I were out the door pretty early- we wanted to get back to Salt Lake. The best part about trips like these is seeing another town and then realizing how much we love home. :) We were happy to be on our way back to Salt Lake.

Over all it was a good time. :) We're looking forward to visiting Vegas again- sometime. Probably not any time soon, but one of these days. I'm not sure where the next place we'll try to vacation is, but I want to try to go Yellowstone, Disneyland, Portland, and some of the National Parks in Southern Utah. Maybe the Grand Canyon too.

Dave shaved his beard

Dave finally gave up on the beard last night and shaved it off. I think I am okay with that. :)

I am already buying Christmas decorations. It's not even Halloween yet! (Although I did get a screaming deal). I made my own wreath too! Well, I guess I should say I decorated my own wreath. It's pretty cute if I say so myself (I'll post pictures later). It definitely looks like an amatuer decorated it though. I told Dave that I wouldn't put up any Christmas decorations until December 1 so I have to put everything in a box until then. And this starts our collection of holiday decorations! :)

Oh yeah and we watched Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull. Man that movie was crap! When did Indiana Jones turn from an archeologist to James Bond? It wasn't so much adventure as it was stupid. And aliens? Come on. It's like the writers weren't even trying. My favorite part is where Indiana Jones escapes/avoids an atomic bomb blast by climbing into a fridge. Of course the fridge goes launching into the air and Indiana Jones tumbles out just fine. It reminds me of watching the end of GI Joes when I was young... a whole bunch of kids are running around a junk yard playing hide and go seek when one of the kids tries to climb into an old abandoned fridge. Mr. GI Joe stops them and lets the kids know they shouldn't play in abandoned fridges or else they might get stuck.... Now you know, and knowing is half the battle... Anyway, I'm amazed Indy survived the fridge.

Ten minutes until the first part of my day is over. Today went so quickly! :) If only more days could be like today. Wish I had more to say, but I remain boring (sorry guys). On the other hand, Dave is thinking about growing a beard. :) He has one started (I'll take pix tonight- I hope). But he's already getting annoyed with it. We'll see how long it lasts.

Other than that... tomorrow is like my Friday. I am so happy for that. :)

David's Birthday Extravaganza....

David is now 29. :) And what a celebration we have had. :) Saturday was the big day for celebrating (it's funny how work can really interfere with birthday celebration plans). We woke up early and went out to breakfast at our favorite breakfast place (Cracker Barrel). Dave's mom and brother, Alex, joined us. Then we were off to Snowbird where Dave got pampered and massaged. It was a beautiful day up at Snowbird- I think it was warmer on Saturday than it ever got when we were there for our honeymoon. I sat outside in a spot of sunlight and read my book and worked on my crocheting (I'm getting a lot better- almost all of my lines are the same length now). After Snowbird, when Dave was so much more relaxed, we went back to town and rented some movies and ate out our favorite Indian Restaurant (Royal India in Bountiful). I love how even though we were celebrating Dave's birthday, I feel like I was spoiled that day too! So we wrapped a good day with some relaxation. Sunday was more of the same, just relaxing and kicking back- oh and going out to dinner with my friend Katie at another of Dave's favorite restaurant's- Thaifoon. (Wow- he really got spoiled this weekend!).

And yesterday was the big day itself. Unfortunately it was a Monday too. Dave's coworkers decorated his cubicle and then took him out to lunch (how fun!). Dave requested Pot Roast and cupcakes for his birthday dinner and I swear it was the best pot roast I have ever made. I don't know exactly what I did, but I hope I can do it again someday- it was fantastic!

Last night when Dave was at his soccer game I snuck out and got some decorations to surprise him with. So it wasn't much, but it was a good wrap up to Dave's birthday. :) I hope that Dave enjoyed his birthday (I know I did!).

Whoo hoo! You're 29! :) I'm so glad that you are in my life Dave, you are such a wonderful blessing. :) I love you so much. I love celebrating your birthday with you and trying to make this day as special and as wonderful as you are. :)

Last Minute (I'm so bad)

Okay, okay, okay... I'm really really bad at this stuff. Dave's birthday is Monday (He's going to be 29) but we're going to celebrate on Saturday. I was going to get him a massage/pampering thing up at the Snowbird Day Spa, but Dave isn't quite sold on that idea. So I need help. I want to do something wonderful for him for his birthday and I don't really know what to do. I just want to make him feel special... so if you have any good ideas, please, please, please let me know. (or any ideas at all).
